# MYNERD — full user guide (for AI assistants) Source: https://mynerd.io/guide . Korean first, English below. 2. The first time you open MYNERD it asks which language you want and what kind of work you do, then gets everything ready for you. Once that is done you can start giving Ned tasks right away. ### Your first launch Pick a language and a field of work; MYNERD handles the rest. When you open MYNERD for the first time you will see a short setup screen. There are only a few things to choose. Based on what you pick, MYNERD selects the AI models and tools you need, so you do not have to know what to install. 1. Choose the language you want on screen. 2. Choose the field closest to your work. If nothing fits exactly, pick the nearest one. 3. Download the recommended AI model. This happens once; after that it starts instantly. 4. When setup finishes, just type what you want done in the chat box. - Everything you pick here can be changed later in Settings. - Not sure where to begin? Ask Ned: “What can I ask you to do?” ### Installing an AI model on your computer Runs on your own machine, so nothing leaves it. MYNERD can run AI models on your own computer. When it does, the material you work with never leaves your machine. Models come in different sizes, so you need one that suits your hardware. Ned can tell you which one fits. 1. Ask Ned: “Recommend a model for my computer.” 2. Pick one from the list and the download starts. 3. You can keep working while it downloads; progress is shown. 4. When it finishes, select that model in Settings. - Models are large files. The first download takes a while and needs free disk space. - If you already downloaded a model elsewhere, MYNERD will find it and use it as is. ### Using MYNERD with an outside AI Build in a chat window you already use, then run it in MYNERD. Instead of a model on your own computer, you can connect MYNERD to an AI chat window you already use. Many people find it easiest to design an automation in a familiar chat window, then run it day to day from MYNERD. Using only one of the two is perfectly fine. ## Work Folders (Sandbox) Choose which folders Ned can read from and write to. Ned only handles files inside the folders you register here. Anything not registered is left alone, so nothing can be touched by mistake. These folders are also what you can browse from inside MYNERD. ### What is a work folder? The list of folders Ned is allowed to work in. A work folder (sandbox) is a folder where Ned may read, create and save files. Ned only works inside the folders you register, so there is no risk of the wrong file changing. Subfolders are included automatically. - Ned does not delete or overwrite your originals. Results are saved as new files or under a different name. ### Adding a work folder Pick a folder in Settings and it takes effect immediately. Go to Settings → Work Folders (Sandbox) to add a folder. 1. Open the Settings tab from the top menu. 2. Find the Work Folders (Sandbox) section. 3. Press [[1]] Choose Folder to pick a folder. (Or type the path in the field on the left.) 4. Press [[2]] Add. Once the folder appears in the list you are done — Ned can use it straight away. - Registering a parent folder opens every folder inside it. For example, registering your whole Documents folder includes everything within it. - If you pick a folder that syncs automatically, such as OneDrive or Dropbox, MYNERD switches to a safe folder instead so your files do not get tangled up. ### Removing a work folder Press Remove in the list and access stops immediately. Folders you no longer use can be removed from the list. Once removed, Ned can no longer reach them. 1. In Settings → Work Folders (Sandbox), find the folder you want to remove. 2. Press [[3]] Remove on the right of that folder. 3. It disappears from the list and from the file browser right away. ### A different work folder for each project Each project can point at its own folder. When you create or edit a project you can give it its own work folder. If you leave it empty, the project uses the global work folder from Settings. ### It says the folder cannot be accessed Add that folder as a work folder and it will open. The folder you are trying to open has not been registered as a work folder yet. For safety, only registered folders open. Add it under Settings → Work Folders (Sandbox) and it will open right away. ## Connecting an Outside AI Attach MYNERD to outside AI tools such as Cursor or Claude Code. Use this when you want to call MYNERD's tools from an outside coding AI such as Cursor or Claude Code. This is not about where files are stored — it registers MYNERD inside that program. ### Connecting MYNERD to an outside AI Pick the program, press Connect, and it registers itself. This is done under Plugins → MCP(out) → Connect an Outside AI. 1. Go to the Plugins tab, open MCP(out) and find the Connect an Outside AI section. 2. Pick the program you want (for example Cursor) from the [[1]] dropdown. 3. To change where the settings file goes, use [[2]] Browse and select a file such as mcp.json. (Leave it empty for the default location.) 4. Tick [[3]] Also install CLI if you want MYNERD to be able to call that tool directly. 5. Press [[4]] Connect. MYNERD installs what is needed and registers itself in that program. 6. When it finishes, restart just that program. You do not need to restart MYNERD. - Leave the settings file path empty to use the program's default location. To choose it yourself, use Browse and pick a file such as mcp.json. ### How this differs from a work folder One is a folder for files, the other is a connection to a program. A work folder is where Ned keeps files. Connecting an outside AI registers MYNERD inside another program such as Cursor or Claude Code. It is a connection, not a folder. ## CLI (Outside Coding AI) Drive Cursor or Claude Code from inside MYNERD. You can direct coding AI tools such as Cursor, Claude Code or Codex from inside MYNERD. Set one as your chat partner and you can hand coding work straight to it. ### Installing and connecting a coding AI Install from the CLI catalog, then test the connection. Go to Plugins → CLI to install and connect the coding AI you want, for example Claude Code. 1. Go to the Plugins tab and open CLI. 2. If the tool you want is not installed yet, press [[1]] Install. 3. Press [[2]] Connect on an installed tool. 4. Complete any sign-in or subscription step if asked. When it shows Connected you are ready. ### Setting the CLI work folder Choose which folder the coding AI may touch. The CLI work folder is the folder that coding AI works in. It is separate from Ned's own work folders. Leave it empty to use that tool's default folder. To pin it to one folder, use Browse. 1. In Plugins → CLI, expand the tool's card. 2. Next to Work Folder, press [[3]] Browse and pick a folder. (Empty means the tool's own default.) 3. Press [[4]] Save. ### Switching your chat partner to a coding AI Pick a coding AI from the chip and your messages go straight to it. Use the partner chip beside the chat box to pick an installed coding AI, for example Claude Code. Your messages then go to that tool instead of Ned. ## Plugins Manage assets, MCP servers, skills and tools. The Plugins tab is where you manage the parts that extend what Ned can do — assets (models and engines), MCP servers (connections to outside tools), skills (know-how for a kind of task) and tools you can switch on and off. ### MCP(in) — bringing in outside tools Connect tools such as the file system, the web or SketchUp to Ned. MCP(in) is where you connect outside tools — the file system, fetching web pages, SketchUp and so on — so that Ned can use them. Pick one from the suggested catalog and install it, and Ned can use it immediately. 1. Go to the Plugins tab and open MCP(in). 2. Find the tool you want in the catalog, for example File System. 3. [[1]] Click the tool's card and it installs right away. (There is no separate install button — the whole card is the button.) 4. Installed tools are shown greyed out as Installed, and Ned can use them at once. ### Connecting a tool by web address Paste an address and MYNERD works out the rest. Many tools these days need no installation at all — a single web address is enough. In that case you only paste the address. MYNERD reads the address and fills in the settings itself, including the name. 1. Go to the Plugins tab and open MCP(in). 2. Press Add Server at the right of the section heading. 3. Choose Connect by web address and paste the address. 4. Save, and it appears in the list. Tools that need a sign-in will open a browser window. - Only paste addresses you trust. Ned will use whatever tool you connect. ### Picking from Ned's library Useful outside tools, gathered in one list. So that you do not have to hunt for addresses, a set of useful outside tools is gathered into a list. Choosing one connects it. The list includes tools for generating images and video, for design work, for making voices, and for code repositories. 1. Go to the Plugins tab and open MCP(in). 2. Choose the one you want from the list. 3. Tools that use a browser sign-in will open a window; tools that need a key will ask you to paste it. 4. Once connected you can use it straight from the chat box. - Some tools include a limited free allowance. Check each tool's own terms for the details. ### Skill Shop — adding know-how Install skills that make Ned better at a particular kind of job. A skill is a bundle of know-how for handling one kind of task well. Install a skill from the Skill Shop and Ned follows that approach. 1. Open Plugins → Skill Shop. 2. Click the card of the skill you want and it installs immediately. 3. Ned refers to installed skills automatically when the work calls for them. ## Workflows Chain several steps together and run them in one go. A workflow strings together steps such as collecting, analysing, extracting and checking, and runs them as one automation. You can assemble it by talking to Ned or lay out the nodes yourself. ### Teaching a workflow Give it a starting file and a finished one, and it learns the difference. Ned can compare a workflow's result against a correct example and learn the difference. Use Browse to select the starting (original) file and the correct file. 1. Open a project and press + New Workflow. 2. Tell Ned what you want done and it builds the flow of nodes for you. 3. Press ▶ Run and it works down the steps in order. Results are saved to your work folder. - Run Diagnose first and Ned will tell you which parts (models, tools) are missing and fill them in. ## Projects & Library Separate your work spaces and keep your material together. A project is a work space. Each project can have its own conversations, workflows and work folder. The library is where you keep the things you use often. ### Creating a project Make a new work space and point it at a folder. Inside a project you can keep its conversations and workflows separate from everything else. When you create it you can also choose the work folder it should use. 1. Press + New Project on the left. 2. Give it a name, add a handover note if you want, and choose the work folder this project should use. 3. Press Create. A project card appears, and you build agents and workflows inside it. - Leave the work folder empty to use the default work folder (sandbox) from Settings. ### Publishing to the web library Share a workflow or agent you made so others can use it too. You can publish workflows and agents you built to mynerd.io so that others can use them. Anyone can download them and run them in their own MYNERD. Add a name and a description when you publish so people know what it is for. 1. In the library, open the menu on the item you want to publish. 2. Choose Publish to web. 3. Write a name and description, then publish. 4. You can take it down again at any time from your account page. - Anything you publish is visible to everyone. Please check that no company or personal information is included. - API keys and passwords are stripped out automatically when you publish. Q: Can I change something after publishing it? A: Edit it and publish again. People who already downloaded it are not updated automatically, so mention any big change in the description. ### Using what others have published Download other people's workflows and agents and use them straight away. The web library holds workflows and agents published by other people. Download one and it lands in your own library, where you can also edit it. Changing it to suit yourself has no effect on the original author's copy. 1. Open Web Library from the library. 2. Pick what you are looking for and read through it. 3. Press Download and it joins your library. 4. Rename or adjust it however you like. - It is worth reading through a downloaded workflow to see what it does before you run it. - If what you downloaded needs an outside AI, it will use the key on your own account. ### Sharing a widget Publish a widget from your board so others can use it. Widgets you made by talking to Ned can be published too. Whoever downloads one can drop it straight onto their own board. Widgets that show numbers or lists are redrawn against the other person's own material, since everyone is looking at different data. 1. Open the menu on the widget on your board. 2. Choose Publish to web. 3. Write a name and description, then publish. - What the widget displays may go up with it. Please check that it is something you are happy to show. ### Managing what you published Edit or remove your uploads and see how many people took them. Your account page on mynerd.io lists everything you have published. You can see how many people downloaded each one, read the comments, and take anything down that you no longer want up. 1. Sign in at mynerd.io and open your account page. 2. Look through the list under My uploads. 3. To change something, edit it in the app and publish again. To remove it, press Take down. - Taking something down does not remove it from people who already downloaded it. ### Restoring something you deleted (Trash) Deleted items go to the trash rather than vanishing. When you delete a project, workflow or agent it is not removed immediately — it goes to the trash. If you deleted something by mistake you can restore it from there. When you really want it gone, empty the trash. 1. Open the trash. 2. Find what you want back and press Restore. It returns to where it was. 3. To remove things for good, press Empty. - Emptying the trash cannot be undone. ## Data Board & Widgets Keep the numbers and lists you check often on one screen. The data board gathers the things you check often into cards. Each card is called a widget, and you create them by asking. ### What is the data board? One screen holding the things you check often. Rather than asking every time, you can keep the numbers and lists you check regularly on screen as cards. The board is for looking at things. Asking for work to be done happens in the chat box. ### Creating a widget by asking Describe what you want to see and Ned builds the card. Describe what you want to see and Ned builds a card for it and puts it on your board. For example: “Show me how many files have piled up in my work folder this month.” 1. Describe what you want to see in the chat box. 2. The card Ned builds appears on your board. 3. If it is not quite right, just say so — “change the colour” or “only show five” — and it is adjusted. - Widgets can be deleted and made again, so feel free to experiment. ### Editing and deleting widgets Change them by asking; delete them from the card menu. Cards you already made can be changed by asking. Say which card you mean and what you want different. To delete one, open the card's menu and choose delete. ## Messenger Talk to Ned through Telegram and similar apps. Connect a messenger and you can give Ned instructions and receive results away from your desktop. ### Connecting Telegram Create a bot, paste the token, and run Ned from your phone. With a messenger connected you can send work to Ned from your phone. Telegram is the first one supported. 1. In Telegram, search for @BotFather, send /newbot, choose a name and username, and copy the token you receive. 2. In MYNERD, go to Settings → Messenger, switch it on, paste the token and save. 3. Press Test connection and check that it changes to Connected. 4. Create a forum (topic) group in Telegram and invite your new bot as an administrator. 5. Send any message to the group, then press Sync topics to fill in the room list. If you know the group's chat_id you can enter it directly. 6. Now message the bot from Telegram on your phone and MYNERD will pick it up, do the work and send the result back. - Treat your bot token like a password. Do not show it to anyone or post it publicly. - @BotFather is the official account with a blue verified check. Watch out for imitations with similar names. ## Settings Manage models, language, theme and your account. Settings is where you manage AI models, the display language, the theme, your account and your work folders. ### Changing the display language Choose a language in Settings and it applies at once. Go to Settings → Language to choose the language shown on screen. The change takes effect immediately. 1. Open Settings. 2. Choose your language under Language and the screen changes right away. 3. Models can be chosen per role. If you are not sure which to pick, ask Ned to recommend one for your computer. ### Choosing AI models Set which models handle conversation, judgement and function calls. Under Settings → AI Models you choose the models Ned uses. Different roles can use different models. ## Account & Plans Manage sign-in, subscription and licence. This is where you manage your account and your plan (Free, Light, Pro, Team). ### About the plans Choose between Free, Light, Pro and Team. MYNERD offers Free, Light, Pro and Team plans. What you can use, and how many projects you can have, depends on the plan. 1. Sign in under Settings → Account. 2. You can see your current plan and how long it runs. 3. Press Upgrade to open the payment page on mynerd.io. ### What changes with your plan How many things you can have, and which features are open, depend on the plan. Your plan sets how many projects you can create and which features are available. If you press something your current plan does not include, the screen tells you what is holding it back. - While you are using a model that runs on your own computer, there is no extra charge based on how much you use it. ## The MYNERD Website Your account, your account page and the forum. At mynerd.io you can create an account, manage what you have published and talk with other users. It is the same account as the app. ### Creating an account Use your Google account, or sign up with an email address. Press Sign in at the top right of mynerd.io to create an account. Using a Google account takes one step. If you sign up with an email address, a confirmation message is sent to it. 1. Go to mynerd.io and press Sign in. 2. Press Continue with Google, or enter an email address and password. 3. If you signed up by email, open the confirmation message in your inbox to finish. ### Your account page Your plan and your uploads in one place. Your account page shows the plan you are on, your licence, and everything you have published to the web. It is also where you set the name shown to other people. ### If you forget your password Set a new one from the link in the email. Press Forgot password on the sign-in screen and an email is sent to the address you signed up with. Open the link in that email and set a new password. The link stops working after a while, so it is best to do it as soon as it arrives. - If you cannot see the email, please check your spam folder. ### Asking and sharing on the forum Ask questions, show what you built, and swap tips. The forum has sections for questions, showing your work, tips and general talk. Questions that come up often are collected under FAQ. You need to be signed in to post.
